Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. How much does it cost to groom my dog?

Now, if you want your dog to look sharp and smell fresh, you've got a couple of options. You can go to a traditional grooming shop, or you can get a mobile groomer to come to you. But let me tell you, these mobile grooming services aren't cheap. We have to bring the salon to your door, and that isn't as easy as we make it look.

But, if you want to know the average prices, just check out the Prices tab on the top of the page. We've got the info you need. And if your pup is a mixed breed, don't worry, the price will be based on which breed they most resemble.

Now, I know what you're thinking, "These are the highest prices in town!" And you're right, they're not the cheapest option out there. But that's because we do a fantastic job. We love what we do, and it shows in our work. So, if you're ready for a top-notch grooming session you're on the right track with us.

Q2. What forms of payments do you accept?

If you're looking to make a payment, we have you covered. We accept the classic green stuff, ya know, Cash. We also take those fancy plastic cards like Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. And if you're into the tech stuff, we can also take payments through Cash App and PayPal. Also Apple Pay and Google Pay. But hold up, one thing to note, no CHECKS. Keep it simple, yeah?

Q3. How do you keep my credit card information safe?

We take the security of your credit card information seriously. Here's the thing. You don't have to worry about us keeping your credit card information safe because we don't handle it or store it in any way. Not a single number. Not a single digit. It's encrypted by our credit card scanner and sent to the bank using their secure systems. If you pay online it's handled directly by the bank and their security measures. We leave all that to the pros. There's no need for us to protect something that we don't even have.

Q4. What is included in your services?

We have everything you need to get your pup looking fresh and clean! We have nail clipping, routine ear cleaning, foot pad shaving and sanitary area trimming, combing out all that shedding hair (if it's needed), a haircut (if it’s needed or wanted), the ultimate Hurricane Bath and a nice dry off.

And if you're just looking for a quick nail trim, we have you covered there too! Just head on over to our pricing page to see the prices and then schedule an appointment on our scheduling page. It's that easy!

Q5. Is your service available at my address?

We serve most Ocala, FL mailing addresses with the following exceptions: We do not drive on dirt roads. We do not go to the neighborhoods of Silver Springs Shores, Summer Glenn, or Marion Oaks. We had to exclude a few neighborhoods because of the amount of time it takes to get to there. These neighborhoods have Ocala addresses but are a long drive away.

Q6. How long does it take to groom my dog?

Now, the truth is, it depends on your furry friend. We have a whole checklist of tasks to do, and we'll be as quick as your dog allows us to be. Some pups love a speedy groom, while others need a bit more patience. Generally, it takes around an hour to give your pup the full spa treatment. But hey, every dog is unique, so some might take a bit longer, and some might even be quicker. It's a delicate dance, my friends, but it's worth it to see your furry buddy looking fresh and clean.

Q7. Should I sedate my dog before you arrive?

Not unless your veterinarian recommends it. We’re very good at handling all types of dogs. This is our business. We get to know each dog as an individual. We’re able to read their personalities and establish a trusting relationship with them. Most of the time, sedation will interfere with our ability to establish trust with your dog.

Q8. How often should I get my dog groomed?

Well, the truth is, there's no one-size-fits-all answer. It all depends on a number of factors. But generally speaking, most of our clients get their furry friends groomed about once every four weeks. That also lines up with how often they should have their nails dremeled. But if you have a particularly lazy dog that loves lounging on the couch or snuggling with you in bed, you might want to bump it up to every two weeks to keep them smelling fresh. Now, if your dog is a hard-working livestock guardian or just a laid-back pup who doesn't mind getting dirty, you can probably get away with grooming them every two or three months. Just keep in mind, if your dog has long hair, you'll need to groom them more often to avoid mats. So, keep your pups clean and looking sharp, and they'll love you for it.

Q9. When should my puppy get his first grooming?

If you're a proud owner of a new pup, you might be wondering when you should take your little buddy for their first grooming. Well, let me tell you, the sooner, the better. The earlier you start grooming, the more relaxed and comfortable your pup will be with the whole thing as time goes on. Here's the thing, you gotta make sure your pup is vaccinated before you take 'em to get groomed, alright? It's all about safety, folks. We do our best to keep things sanitized, but you don't want to risk anything. So talk to your vet and see when your pup is ready for their first grooming. And remember, keep that little fella happy and healthy!

Q10. Can you demat my dog?

No. Dematting is painful for your dog. Mats and tangles need to be cut out. The extent of matting is almost always worse than it appears because it mats from the skin outward. If we can run a fine tooth comb (greyhound comb) through your dog’s coat then matting is not an issue and we can leave your dog’s hair as long or short as you prefer. If the greyhound comb will not go through the entire body then it’s time for a fresh start with a short haircut. We’ll make it look as stylish as possible. This is usually only an issue for dogs who have not been groomed for a while. This is not an issue for dogs that receive grooming on the schedule that is appropriate for their hair style.

Q11. Do you use muzzles?

So, you might be wondering if we use muzzles when it comes to grooming dogs, right? Well, let me tell you this, we don't mess around with aggressive dogs. We have a strict no-tolerance policy for that type of behavior. 99% of the pups we meet are friendly and love getting pampered. We always do our best to make sure every dog has a comfortable grooming experience with us. But, if your furry friend has bitten anyone in the past (or you think they might in the present or the future), they're outta luck, they won't be able to get groomed by us. And if they show any sign of aggression towards us, the session is over, and the pup is heading back home with its owner, ungroomed. You see, us dog groomers live off of our hands, and a dog bite can put us out of commission for a long time. So, safety always comes first, my friends!

Q12. My dog has fleas. Can you give him a flea bath?

Yes, if you provide the flea shampoo. Let me tell you something about fleas on your dog! These tiny pests are a real challenge, and a flea bath is just the tip of the iceberg. Trust me, I've tried it all - from the fanciest flea shampoos to the most hardcore treatments. But here's the thing, different dogs react differently to different products. It's a crapshoot, you never know what's gonna work. I've seen two pooches living in the same house, both on the same flea meds, but one's still scratchin' while the other is just chilling, like "what fleas?" We don't know what works for your unique dog. So, if you have a flea shampoo that's been working wonders for your pup, let's give it a go in the bath! Together, we'll make sure your furry friend is flea-free!

Q13. Can you groom my Mastiff, Saint Bernard, Newfoundland, Great Dane, etc.?

Yes! We like big dogs.

Q14. My appointment was for 2:00. It is now 2:30 and no one showed up. What happened?

So you book an appointment with us, and we're gonna give you a time window for when your appointment will start and end. We can't give you an exact time because let's be real, sometimes things get a little crazy. You know how it is, sometimes dogs take longer to deal with, traffic is a disaster. But don't sweat it, we'll be there within an hour of the estimated start time, and we'll get the job done by the end of that window we gave you when you scheduled your appointment. And if we can, we'll send you updates as we get closer to your appointment time. Life is unpredictable, my friends, but we'll do our best to make this as smooth as possible for you.

Q15. Why don’t you have your phone number on your website?

Okay guys, let me break it down for you. We don't do phone calls, that's just not our thing. We're too busy getting these dogs looking fresh to be on the phone all day. The only way to reach us is through email or text, it's that simple.

Our website is slick, no joke. You can do anything you need without having to wait for a person to help you out. Got a question like, 'How much do you charge?' Click the PRICES tab, and you're golden. Scheduling an appointment is so simple, even a 10-year-old could do it.

If you have a question that can't be answered by checking out our website for a minute, then hit us up with a text or email. We'll get back to you quicker than you can say, 'Dog Gone Clean'. And trust me, most of your questions can be answered by checking out our website, and we'll probably just send you a link to it. So check it out, folks!

Q16. This is my first time doing business with Dog Gone Clean. What can I expect?

First off, when you book your appointment on our website, you'll get a confirmation email like BOOM! That appointment is officially on our calendar and everything is good to go. You'll also get a couple of reminders in the lead up to the appointment, just so you don't forget.

On the day of the appointment, our groomer will send an update with estimated arrival time, if possible, so you know when to expect us. Sometimes communications from a mobile grooming studio can be challenging! We'll send a heads up when we're on the way, so you can get your pup ready for their big spa day!

We'll pull up in our service vehicle and park in front of your house or in your driveway, whichever works best for the situation. Then, we'll power it up and get ready to work our magic.

Our groomer will talk to you about what we can do for your furry friend and ask if you have any special requests. Then, we'll take your dog into our trailer and give them the royal treatment. If you have a pack of dogs we sometimes give all your dogs the full-on grooming experience at the same time. Other times, it makes sense to zero in on one pooch at a time, giving them the undivided attention they deserve. Your pup will be the center of attention from start to finish.

And don't worry, we don't believe in putting dogs in cages. Your pup will never be caged up with us. After about an hour, the groomer will knock on your door and return your clean, fresh, and happy pup! You're going to love it!

Q17. Does your service include expressing anal glands?

The answer is, well, it's a bit complicated. You see, in most cases, we can handle it with our routine procedures, but sometimes these dogs need a little extra attention from a veterinarian. It's not really a black and white issue, it's more of a gray area. And let's face it, when it comes to those anal glands, you want a professional with decades of veterinary training and hands-on experience, not just a groomer. Groomers just don't have that expertise so, yes, we'll do what we can but we'll let you be the judge of whether your dog is doing fine with the groomer expressing their anal glands or if the situation should be escalated to your veterinarian.

Q18. Can you brush my dog’s teeth?

No. Taking care of a dog's teeth is no joke. You gotta do it every day, you know what I'm saying? And when it comes to the real deep cleaning, that's gotta be done by a professional, a vet, someone who knows what they're doing. So, unfortunately guys, we can't do it. We don't have access to your dog every day for the routine stuff and we're not qualified to perform the level of dental work a vet can when it’s time for the heavy stuff.
